October 5: October 7: October 10: October 12: October 17: October 24, Trees in front: You can't tell from these pictures, but the house has ridge vents rather than wind turbines. We have learned at our house that wind turbines will not vent the attic enough unless you put them everywhere the roof jigs off somewhere. In contrast, ridge vents normally are put all along the ridge of each section of the house. If heat is not vented from the attic, it can cause the shingles to age prematurely and get brittle and break. Another potential problem down the road is the rubber seals or flashing around pipes that come through the roof. After about 7 or 8 years, they can get brittle and crack and need replacing. One of our neighbors just had to get his replaced for $40 each when a leak developed.
