Kay Ford

Itinerant Blackberry Picker

If you've been driving down Pizarro (or a number of other streets) and seen a little munchkin scurrying around in the thistles on the side of the road, that was Kay Ford, pursuing her favorite summertime hobby of picking blackberries.

If you would like to take up this hobby, all it takes is some blackberry bushes (plenty of those along the road), a few ziplock bags, and a willingness to get out in the summer heat along with the chiggers and snakes to wade through the blackberry thorns. (Notice in the first picture that Kay has learned the wisdom of wearing long pants, despite the heat.)

After a few hours of this, you should have enough berries to make a cobbler for your loving spouse. Kay's favorite sugar-free recipe is below.
