Hydrangea
Silver Blue Variegated
Jun 15, 2008:
Bloom:
Hydrangea macrophylla Cityline Rio PPAF, Sept. 26, 2009:
Bed was prepared by using an auger to till the soil 2' or so deep
then humus was mixed in.
A couple of weeks later, the plant came in and was put in the ground;
the ground around it covered with chicken wire to keep the armadillos from digging,
then topped with cypress mulch (and thoroughly watered, of course).
Because this is out by the golf course where deer walk by, I also sprinkled
moth balls around.
This is in the southwest bed near the pear tree.
The plant was eaten down to the ground after this picture, probably by rabbits.
It came back in 2010 and in May, is a little bigger than the above picture.
I've spread some critter repellant around it and nothing's eaten it yet.
