Bradford Pears have a terrible reputation because they are susceptible to wind damage. We get very strong winds, but no wind damage to them, but these trees above were only about 12 years old in 2009. But Bradford Pears are very common in this area and I don't remember ever seeing one split. Nevertheless, you can click here for alternatives to Bradford Pears.
